Survivor, the intrepid range of Swartland wines, has won a trio of medals, including Double Gold and Gold, at the prestigious 2019 Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards.

Taking top honours with Double Gold is Survivor Pinotage 2018, with the Gold medal awarded to Survivor Sauvignon Blanc 2019. Chenin Blanc, another Survivor top performer was awarded a Silver medal.

It has been an excellent year for Survivor Pinotage in particular, with the 2017 vintage scooping an ABSA Top Ten award and their Reserve Pinotage 2017 winning the trophy as the best Pinotage at the 2019 Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show.

“We are elated that our Survivor wines have been doing so well at competitions this year. Rooted firmly in the Swartland and made from prized low-yielding, dryland vineyards near Malmesbury, our single minded focus to craft site specific wines that express a true sense of place and authenticity is earning rich rewards ,” says Ben Snyman, winemaker at Overhex Wines International.

The just released Survivor Pinotage 2018 entices with hints of prune, plum and cherry complemented by elegant notes of spice and cedar. Survivor Sauvignon Blanc 2019 teems with bright tropical fruit. Its crisp acidity and subtle minerality add to the attraction. Survivor Chenin Blanc 2019 showcases a medley of apricot and peach with a fresh lime zest finish.

Now, in its 24th year, the Michelangelo International Wine & Spirit Awards remains unique in South Africa. The judges are hand-picked wine experts, representing all seven continents.

The award winning Survivor wines can be purchased online at shop.overhex.com/collections/survivor-wines/ or from selected outlets countrywide.
